Who invented MathPapa?
Robert Ikeda created MathPapa as an online algebra calculating platform. He holds a Stanford University Ph.D. in Computer Science a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, where he also Minor in Mathematics. Ikeda has competed in the United States Math Olympiad (USAMO) and created the app in 2016 with its base in Palo Alto, California.
While MathPapa has a free seven-day trial period, if you wish to enjoy the full potential of this app, then there is a premium subscription fee. Thankfully, the premium plan costs only $9.99 per month with a 50% discount if you subscribe to a yearly plan. For me, this isn’t a huge price to pay, and I consider it cheap compared to the loads of services you get. Another reason to get a premium subscription is that you don’t see disturbing ads.
How to Use the MathPapa Algebra Calculator
The MathPapa algebra calculator needs no learning curve as it is simple and easy to use. Solving most mathematics equations using this app is as effortless as taking a stroll. All you have to do is enter the equation into a text box, and the app does the rest for you.
Let’s say you have an algebraic problem such as 8x-8=40. All you have to do is enter this problem into the text box provided and get your answer.
One plus side of MathPapa is that if you are unsure how it arrived at the answer, it allows you to view the steps used in solving the equation, albeit for a set fee.
As I said earlier, MathPapa comes with some impressive features that have endeared its users. Below is a quick rundown of such features:
This math calculator comes loaded with lots of lessons to help you master algebra right from anywhere. You certainly don’t need a classroom, and by using this app, you get to develop a better understanding of mathematics, especially if you are an average student. Its in-built lessons will take you into nearly all the significant aspects of math that you need to know. Also, you get a step-by-step breakdown of the solution, so you don’t miss anything.
You can use the lesson feature all you want, but if you don’t practice, all your efforts will still come to not. With constant practice, you increase your chances of mastering math. MathPapa comes with practice exercises to give you the much-needed knowledge. These exercises help you to improve your skills in algebra. The exercise section of the app covers a wide range of mathematical problems, so you are sure of not missing any aspect:
- Basic Arithmetic: this section has exercises that cover addition, subtraction, Multiplication, Division, and Basic Arithmetic Review
- Basic Equations: this section teaches you all about the basic equations you have in maths. You get to learn and master the Order of Operation as well.
- Puzzles include word problems, quantitative reasoning, Balance Arithmetic, and Chain Reaction exercises.
- Fractions: you get to try your hands out on fractions of measurements and carry out basic operations such as addition and subtraction with fractions.
- Decimals: you learn to work with decimal numbers and understand what decimal places mean. You will operate with decimals using various mathematical operators.
- Negative Numbers: exercises here teach you how to handle negative numbers. You will also know how operators reacted when present in the same equation.
- Percentages: you will learn to perform operations with percentages and make conversions from and to percentages.
Using MathPapa for Other Mathematical Operation
By now, I’m sure you are aware that MathPapa isn’t just for algebraic equations alone. This excellent math calculator can be used to perform virtually all math-related challenges. Let me show you exactly how to do just that:
1. How to Square Root on MathPapa?
The MathPapa calculator can also perform square root operations. It is easy to achieve as it comes with the “√” operator. All you have to do is select this operator, input a number and click on “Calculate it!” MathPapa will provide you with an accurate answer to your problem.
2. How to Do Cube Root in MathPapa?
Finding cube root on MathPapa is similar to finding square root with few exceptions. To find the cube root with this algebra calculator, you must enter the following operators in chronological order. Let’s say you need the cube root of 64. To perform this task, input:
Enter 64^ (1/3) and click the “calculate it!” button; the calculator does the operation and gives the cube root of 64, which is 4.
3. How to Enter Subscripts into MathPapa?
Entering subscripts and superscripts into the calculator is easy. The app has a default keyboard, i.e., a Symbol keyboard and the ABC keyboard. To switch between keyboards, click on the three horizontal dots on the symbol keyboard. You can quickly get the superscript and subscript symbols from the ABC keyboard, select which you need, and continue your operation.
4. How to divide fractions with variables key?
Being an intuitive algebra calculator, MathPapa also provides you with many ways to perform division operations. Asides from the regular division process, when it comes to dividing fractions, you can use variable keys and still get the correct answer. You can change the “÷” symbol with the “*” and reverse the denominator fraction.
Let’s say you want to divide 2/7 by 3/6. On the math calculator, you will enter 7/2*6/3 and get seven as the correct answer.
5. How to Write Exponents on MathPapa?
MathPapa can also perform exponential operations efficiently. To write exponents on the calculator, enter the “^” symbol. Let’s say you want to perform an exponential operation such as2^5=32. This is still the same as writing2*2*2*2*2=32.
6. Can MathPapa Solve Word Problems?
Yes! MathPapa algebra calculator can also solve word problems.
Mathematics can be complex for some students, and a calculator’s help isn’t such a bad idea. The MathPapa algebra calculator is a helpful tool that can help you solve your homework and serve as an algebra tutor. If you are a parent, you have to keep an eye on how your kids use any calculator; ensure they use it for studying and not for getting out of assignments alone.
